10 Gifts to Give Your Mother for Mother's Day

Mother's Day is quickly approaching.

That means you're about to acknowledge and spend the day with that special woman in your life, who gave birth and sacrificed everything for you. Although Mother's Day is a one day event, you should still take this time to appreciate everything she has ever done for you. She was there to wipe your nose, clean up after you, be there for you when you needed a shoulder to cry on, pack your lunch, and get you ready for your first day of school.

She has been with you every step of the way. Even when you're 22 and still trying to figure out where to go from here, she provides for you.

Your Mother is your home.

She is the safe space, haven and hearth for you to come home to and unwind from all the social anxieties and difficulties you go through. She spends all her time and energy for you, to see you succeed. In essence, she gives her life for you, through and through.

And what do you to acknowledge all the sacrifices you has made for you? Or better yet, what can you do to appreciate all the efforts she has done to see you succeed?

Roses are not enough. Here's a couple of things you can do to appreciate everything your mother has done for you:

1. Tell her you love her.

2. Come up with 101 ways to praise her.

You're incredible. You're fantastic. You're spectacular. You're important. Exceptional. Marvelous. You tried hard. You mean a lot to me. You make me happy. You make me laugh. You brighten my day. You mean the world to me. You're perfect. A big hug. A big kiss.

3. Don't let her work for Mother's Day.

Lady, put down the brush!

Do it, now! Don't touch!

Washing dishes? Stop what you're doing!

You are not allowed to work on Mother's Day!

4. Go out to dinner or to the movies.

Have a special movie or old-time classic that your Mom likes?

How 'bout some upcoming superhero movies?

5. Cook for her.

6. Let her take a day off from being a Mom.

7. Binge-watch Netflix with her.

Have a favorite season you love to watch? Game of Thrones per chance?

8. Give her a gift that empowers her.

Does your Mom love cooking? Is she having problems with the microwave? Oven? Does she throw all these hidden signs that she's in desperate need of seeing something that gives her power?

9. A toast to Mom Power!

10. Don't dis your mama!

Enjoy Mother's Day with that special mother in your life!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
