When I woke up this morning, I immediately left my bed with the idea of wearing a short knee length dress with short sleeves and an open back. Why not? For the last three to four months it has been so hot outside that it’s nearly impossible to wear pants. Instead of wasting 10 minutes looking up the weather, I just go with what I’ve known all summer. It will most likely be Satan degrees outside. Yes, I said it, Satan degrees, and it must be capitalized to emphasize just how hot and humid it will be. With that in mind, I dress for the weather I believe it will be, and as I sluggishly go about my dreadful morning I remember that once I start walking in the heat I will wake up eventually.
When I have finally made it to the back door I mentally prepare myself for the wave of humidity that will hit me. I count to three and open the door with force. Just as the door opens to its fullest capacity, Mother Nature blows her cold fall weather directly in my face. A wind I haven’t felt in ages pushes me back into the house, and forces me to rethink my wardrobe for the day. I look down at myself and think “Maybe this wasn’t the right idea. I still have time… Let’s check the weather and dress right.” I could have been really annoyed that the day started with me having to make a quick wardrobe change. I could have been super agitated that I would be cutting it close, but I couldn’t be annoyed or agitated.
How can you be any type of negative emotion when you’ve just found out that Fall season has finally made an appearance? Sure, Mother Nature was a little melodramatic when she introduced Fall to me, but hey what can you do? She’s probably been waiting patiently for the perfect day to introduce Fall season. What better way than to have her greet you at your backdoor with the strongest gust of wind imaginable for six in the morning. Honestly, there’s no other way to welcome back one of the best seasons to grace Earth. It may come around every year, like Christmas, but it never gets old. The time has come to break out the hoodies and beanies. Sweater weather is here and let’s hope it sticks around for a while.
