Growing up in the St. Louis area, you’d be crazy to say that you didn’t absolutely love the beautiful game of baseball. In my family, you’d be shunned. American’s favorite past time has been a significant part of my life ever since I can remember, and now that baseball season is finally upon us once again, I can barely contain my excitement. These are the 10 things you know to be true if you’re even half as passionate about baseball as I am.
1. It feels like a piece of you is missing from November until March.
The air is cold, grass is dead, and the stadium’s gates are locked. Can it be April already?
2. Whether it be rain or shine, if you bought tickets to a game, there’s no way you’re missing out.
Your legs are sliding around on the seat from sweat? Tornado warnings are going off? If it’s baseball time, you’re not going anywhere.
3. Opening Day is like Christmas and your birthday rolled into one.
Doesn’t matter if you’re going to be in the stadium or on your couch, all that matters is you’re watching baseball once again.
4. You know who’s up to bat just by hearing their walk-up song.
And you can't help but dance/sing along to it.
5. Your favorite outfit consists of your team’s apparel.
Sporing a t-shirt and baseball hat in your city’s colors can make a bad day do a 180.
6. You know the best places to park and exactly where your favorite food stand is when you go to a game.
You park the car, I’ll grab the nachos.
7. If Opening Day is like if Christmas and your birthday happened on the same day, then the month of October is like Christmas, your birthday, and Friday all rolled into one.
In St. Louis, we call it Red October baby.
8. Your team’s mascot is your idol.
If I could do anything I wanted for an entire day, I would spend every minute of it being Fredbird.
9. You get personally offended if someone says they don’t like your team.
I’m from the Lou and I’m proud.
10. There’s absolutely nothing you’d rather do than spend a day in the ballpark.
After all, it is called America’s favorite past time for a reason.
