Most Of My Money Goes To Concerts And That Is OK

An indescribable feeling that never is forgotten.

Sixteen concerts later and I will continue to save for more.

Most people call me crazy. They wonder why I spend so much money on something that only lasts a few hours. The person singing doesn't know I'm there so what's the point?

Here's the point:

At a concert, I am nothing but happy. There is no better feeling than being in a huge crowd of people singing some of your favorite songs with a friend or two. You get to get dressed up, take cute pictures and then on your way you go. You get your ticket scanned, find your seat and you can't help but look around. Each concert goes by and the number of people in the stands is crazy. Obviously, you expect a lot of people but the reality of it, it is a different feeling.

And then you wait. You jam out to the songs playing before. You sometimes debate on getting food or going to the bathroom but you're scared you will miss the start.

Then, the lights go out. Your stomach drops, your heart beats faster and the spotlights start to circulate. The stage lights come on and the beat starts to play. You look around and the whole crowd is on their feet chanting the name of the singer. The concert begins and the bass feels like it literally is in your throat. You sing at the top of your lungs dancing and sometimes find yourself dancing with strangers.

The concert ends and right away post concert depression starts. You watch your videos a thousand times but it still is not the same.

But yet, people still ask why go to so many when that money could be used for something else?

Because (at least in my opinion), each concert is something you will never get to relive. I have seen Demi Lovato three times and One Direction three times and not one of the concerts was the same. The thrill is always different, the vibe is different and nine times out of ten the music is different. Going to a concert is a moment of a lifetime. It is like an escape from reality once in a while and it is an indescribable feeling.

I spend most of my money on concert tickets and that is OK. One day I won't be able to go to these concerts. One day, I won't have time to go to these concerts. I spend money on these concerts because it is my escape. The feeling is unreal and seeing your favorite artists live is so different than listening to them on your phone.

If you have never been to a concert, try to go to one. Save up or ask for a ticket for a special event. You will never forget it and I promise, it is one of the best feelings in the world.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
