It’s the most terrifying time of the year – in real life and on TV. You know you love a classic Halloween TV episode. Here’s list of five of the most memorable Halloween episodes - try to watch all of them before November 1st:
" Boy Meets World" – And Then There Was Shawn
A bad dream turned into a Halloween episode. The whole gang ends up in detention (even Topanga…isn’t she supposed to be perfect?) because of a fight that Corey and Topanga have in Mr. Feeny’s class that ends in a breakup. Things start to get strange when “No One Gets Out Alive” appears in blood on the chalkboard. Kenny and Mr. Feeny die shortly into the episode, and it becomes a classic horror movie parody as the gang, figuring that it is one of them, narrow down who the killer is. Shawn ends this saga by waking up from his nap in detention. And, of course, in true “Boy Meets World” style, a lesson is taught in the end about Corey and Topanga’s breakup. Truly one of the most iconic Halloween episodes of all time.
"Friends" – The One With The Halloween Party
It might have been more accurate if it were named “The One Where Chandler Wears a Pink Bunny Costume.” In this episode, Monica and Chandler decide to host a costume party for Halloween. All in twenty-two minutes, Phoebe breaks up an engaged couple, Rachel gets into a fight with a boy she was trying to give Halloween candy to, and Ross and Chandler settle who would win in a fight. Typical “Friends” shenanigans, just with all of them dressed up in iconic costumes.
"The Peanuts Special" – It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
Maybe not an episode in a TV series, but definitely deserving of a spot on this list. This 1966 special features Linus skipping trick or treating with the gang in order to wait for the Great Pumpkin. He believes the Great Pumpkin to work like Santa Claus by giving gifts to good girls and boys and visiting the “most sincere” pumpkin patch each year. No one will ever understand why poor Charlie Brown got a rock in his treat bag instead of candy at every house he visited.
"American Horror Story: Murder House" – Halloween
All of the "American Horror Story" Halloween episodes are iconic, but the first season’s takes the cake for being the absolute best. Without giving too much away to those who haven’t already jumped on the "American Horror Story" train, this two part episode features the return of Rubber Man, shocking information about Vivian’s baby, a confrontation with Hayden, Vivian, and Ben, and a confrontation with Tate and some other teens on the beach. Needless to say, these two episodes will keep you on the edge of your seat.
"Lizzie McGuire" – Night of the Day of the Dead
Lizzie's middle school plans a Halloween dance and, of course, our favorite character, Kate Sanders, is in charge of setting up for the event. Miranda attempts to incorporate decorations from the Mexican holiday "The Day of the Dead" into the dance, but Kate refuses and takes them down immediately. As soon as she takes the decorations down, strange things start to happen, including Lizzie turning into a zombie and a pair of skeletons walking out the door of the school. It ends up just being an extremely intricate prank they played on Kate – the skeletons were Miranda's parents and Lizzie just dressed up as a zombie - but it terrified Kate. It also terrified everyone watching the episode!
Halloween episodes are some of the best from every show. It’s almost the end of the spooky season, so make sure you watch all of your favorites, ones that appeared on this list and ones that didn’t.
