In a presidential election year where anything could have happened, 2020 could potentially be a presidential election cycle even crazier cycle because of the election of Donald Trump. The disdain Democrats and even some Republicans felt after Donald Trump was elected leaves a small opening for a Republican to run in 2020. If this were to happen, we would probably a see an even crazier year than 2016. Here are the five most likely candidates to run in 2020.

1. Donald Trump

This is an obvious pick. Donald Trump will most likely be seeking a second term to continue his work he starts in his first term. Being the incumbent president makes him the most likely to run in 2020.

2. Mike Pence

In the off chance that Donald Trump decided not to run in 2020, Mike Pence would probably be the candidate that makes sense to replace him. Why not pick the man who was second in command anyway? Not to mention, he will be able to continue exactly where Trump left off.

3. Ted Cruz

The most likely Republican challenger would be Ted Cruz. The Texas Senator made his detest of Trump known from the beginning, never actually endorsed Trump during any point during the election. This could have been done as a strategic move, or it could have been done looking towards 2020. Ted Cruz has tried to paint himself as the ultra-conservative that is even more right of Trump, and could easily have a primary battle with Trump.

4. John Kasich

The Ohio Governor is also someone who made his hate for Trump well known. The more moderate Republican in the 2016 race never endorsed Trump, and didn’t even attend the Republican National Convention that was in his own state. He hates Trump, and he also was well liked by people on both sides of the aisle. He could paint himself as a moderate alternative to Trump and have a chance to challenge the incumbent.

5. Tom Cotton

This Arkansas is a long shot, but he could be prepping for a potential Presidential run within the next decade, and maybe even in 2020. Although Cotton endorsed Trump, it was evident that he wasn’t fond of Trump as the Republican nominee. His activity during the entire campaign could signal him trying to gain support for a Presidential run which puts him at number 5 on this list.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
