Here are a few of my favorite coffee shops found in New Orleans, Louisiana. Some are hidden gems perfecting insta-worthy latte art, where you can cozy up with a book and a cup of joe.
Mojo Coffee Roasters has amazing latte art skills. They are ethically sourced and roasted in New Orleans. I'll take "(mo)re (jo)e" please.
District Donutsis not only a coffee shop, but they also serve the most creative and delicious donuts and sliders. They have a new assortment of hand crafted donuts every morning, from Nutella to raspberry-champagne flavored. There are four locations in New Orleans and the good news is, they're opening one up in Baton Rouge soon!
Drip Affogato Bar just recently opened up in 2016. If you love ice cream and espresso, this is a must try place. They offer creative pairings of ice cream and hot espresso shots or tea in a very modern environment. Inside the place itself is a tight squeeze, but creates a cozy coffee feel. The decor is chic with white and pastel colored walls and surfaces. On my first affogato adventure I ordered the "Matcha Matcha," which is a matcha tea that pours over a green tea ice cream with toasted coconuts and a Pocky stick. Super refreshing. My boyfriend ordered the "Banana's Foster," which is made with banana ice cream, bruleed banana, rum caramel and espresso. Also delicious.
And last but not least, Cafe Du Monde is a New Orleans staple. It's been around since 1862. It's the go to tourist attraction for a locally sourced cup of coffee and a plate of delicious powdered sugar donuts called Beignets. The line to be seated is sometimes quite long, but once you're seated the service staff greets you almost immediately and the coffee comes out hot and quick!
Whether you're a local or tourist, these cups of joe will definitely enlighten your tastebuds.
