This poem is a reflection on how many girls think and act in high school. It is brutally honest, but a lesson many have had to learn.
There once was a girl with a soul of a color, in a world full of glass.
She admired the outfits her peers wore and soon,
she wore an outfit of mirrors.
Her friends started wearing makeup, and she soon
wore a face of mirrors.
Her hairstyle reflected those around her, as
did her body.
Cold and clear, she turned her soul to mirrors, and
it didn't take long before
she shattered.
Everyday more and more girls and guys alike choose to become who they think the world wants them to become. High school is one of the most daunting places for anyone who chooses to be different. But it is those who succumb to social appropriation, that will soon crack under the pressure of hiding their true selves.
