Over the past few years, we have seen some amazing movies come to theaters. I expect the rest of 2015 to be no different. This list is by no means exhaustive and does not necessarily list the best movies of 2015, just the ones I am most excited to see in theaters in coming months.
The Martian
Release date: November 25.
Cast: Matt Damon, Jeff Daniels, Micheal Peña, Kristin Wiig, Kate Mara.
During a manned mission to Mars, astronaut Mark Watney, is presumed dead after a horrific storm. Using his wit and intelligence, he must signal to Earth that he is still alive.
Mr. Holmes
Release date: July 17.
Cast: Ian McKellen, Laura Linney.
Originally played by Robert Downey Jr., Sherlock is played by Ian McKellen in this film as the elderly Holmes taking on one last case he couldn't solve in his younger years. I am eagerly awaiting this film.
Jurassic World
Release date: June 12.
Cast: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Judy Greer, Jake Johnson.
Chris Pratt was funny and lovable in Guardians of the Galaxy, so I expect nothing less from this guy. The Jurassic Park movies were some of my favorite childhood movies and I am incredible excited to see what is in store for this decade long reboot.
Terminator Genisys
Release date: June 1.
Cast: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke.
Directer Alan Taylor sets up a new film in the Terminator series that forgets the third and fourth movies ever existed (for good reason) and sets up a new and better timeline (hopefully). Any movie with Arnold is a movie worth watching.
Spectre
Release date: November 6.
Cast: Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Dave Bautista, Christopher Waltz.
Skyfall, which broke a ton of box office records, was fantastic and showed us all that the James Bond franchise is not to be forgotten. In the 24th Bond film, Bond receives a message that leads him to find the truth behind SPECTRE.
The Fantastic Four
Release date: August 7.
Cast: Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Micheal B. Jordan, Jamie Bell.
This reboot of Fox's Fantastic Four has seen very little marketing, thought this film is on everyone's radar. I'm not sure what to expect for this film after the previous series, but I'm hopeful.
Ant-Man
Release date: July 17.
Cast: Paul Rudd, Micheal Douglass, Evangeline Lilly, Micheal Peña.
Little known (pun intended) Avengers team member Ant-Man has a super suit that allows him to shrink in size, but exponentially increase his strength. He must pull off a heist to save the world. In this film, we also see two of the founding members of the Avengers.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2
Release date: November 20.
Cast: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Donald Sutherland, Julianne Moore.
The first Mockingjay movie left us with one hell of a cliff hanger, doing a perfect job of getting everyone set on having to the finale of the Hunger Games series. In this movie, Katniss and the rest of the rebels stand up and fight the Capitol.
Furious 7
Release date: April 3.
Cast: Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Kurt Russel, Iggy Azela, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris.
Rest in peace, Paul Walker, you are greatly missed. In the latest Fast and Furious film, the crew faces their greatest challenge against Owen Shaw's brother who seeks revenge on Dominic, while Dominic and the rest of the crew seek their own revenge for what happened to Han in the previous film.
Mission: Impossible V
Release date: December 25.
Cast: Tom Cruise, Jeremy Renner, Alec Baldwin, Simon Pegg.
Tom Cruise, playing Ethan Hunt, brings together his crew for another death defying film.
The Hateful Eight
Release date: November 13.
Cast: Channing Tatum, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell.
With a director like Quentin Tarantino and a fully loaded cast, there is no way this movie can be bad. This movie is similar to Django Unchained. Set in the West, it follows a group of bounty hunters trying to find shelter during a brutal blizzard who are blindsided by betrayal.
Mad Max: Fury Road
Release date: May 15.
Cast: Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
Thirty years later, the Mad Max series returns to theaters. For those who haven't seen a Mad Max movie yet, the idea behind the movie is a futuristic dystopian society set in an Australian wasteland where Max Rockatansky takes justice and vengeance into his own hands after his best friend and family are killed. Directed by George Miller, this is a must see film.
The Avengers: Age of Ultron
Release date: May 1.
Cast: Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Samuel L. Jackson.
The first Avengers was a hit at the box office, being the third largest grossing film of all time. The team assembles, once more, to fight Marvel's greatest villain of all time -- Ultron.
Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakes
Release date: December 18.
Cast: Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher.
Disney acquired Lucasfilms and announced that they would be continuing this saga, back in 2012. J.J. Abrams will direct, so this is definitely a film everyone will want to see.
