#LightTheWorld
This hashtag has been circulating newsfeeds worldwide. I personally have seen it affect my friends and family, classmates, and random strangers. It is written on campus sidewalks, handout cards, and letters attached to gift bags. It's everywhere!
So what is it?
"Each Christmas, we celebrate the life of Jesus Christ, the Light of the World. By following His teachings, we let his light shine—in our lives and in the lives of others." - the church.
So, here is what's super cool. Starting on December 1 and running through Christmas Day, the focus is on a verse from the New Testament and Book of Mormon in which Jesus spoke and taught. Every day there is a new verse to study, and everyone, church-goer or not, is encouraged to use these verses to inspire them to act and serve their communities.
A great example was the first day. December 1st's verse was Matthew 10:8, in which Christ said "Freely ye have received, freely give." In honor of exam season, one girl brought scantrons and pencils for her classmates who forgot theirs.
Whenever we encounter another person in love, we learn something new about Heavenly Father. It is so encouraging to see others acting in ways that show love to others and honor God.
I want you to be able to act, as well! Here are the next three days and their verses to help you get started! (And here is the official calendar with all those 25 ways over 25 days.)
Dec 7th - Mark 10:14
"Suffer the little children to come unto me."
Dec 8th - Matthew 5:44
"Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you."
Dec 9th - Matthew 25:36
"I was sick and ye visited me."
Share this post, and let's show a little love this holiday season by being a beacon of light in this dark world.
