For anyone who knows me, you know I have an addiction to inspirational quotes. Walk into my dorm room or room at home and quotes will jump out from the walls. Those who know the depths of my love for inspirational quotes may have also caught on to my love for Morgan Harper Nichols quotes in particular. This article gave me an excuse to go through the Pinterest board I have devoted to Morgan Harper Nichols (yes, the obsession goes that far) and pick out some that I hope would speak to you all!

For when you forget your presence matters

No matter where you are in your life, or what you've been through, your presence matters. Despite any uncertainties, being fully yourself in the life you have been given has such value.

For when times are uncertain

i.pinimg.com

When obstacles come our way, we may feel unable to handle them and may resort to stress. I love this quote because it reminds us that being grounded and restful in the face of uncertainty makes us better able to move forward.

For any given day

For when you're wary of how far you still have to go

pbs.twimg.com

This quote has always stood out to me because it's so easy to be down on ourselves or be scared about the places we have yet to go. Learning to see the space between where we are and where we want to be as an exciting challenge, one that we are more than able to handle, feels much better than constantly being scared of what's to come.

For when you forget the little things

i.pinimg.com

I love Morgan's use of the word "wonder" here. There is so much wonder in the world around us, we ought to spend more time appreciating the beauty in the little moments.

For when negative self-talk arises

i.pinimg.com

Above my bed at school, I have a quote that says "be gentle with yourself". This quote is along the same lines: we deserve our kindness ALWAYS, no matter the circumstances.

For when your heart feels lost

i.pinimg.com

I love this quote because it's a reminder that the world is so unexpected, and that if we keep our eyes and hearts open to the people and places around us, we will end up in places walking alongside people we'd never thought we would.

For when unworthiness creeps in

i.pinimg.com

You are worthy, you are so worthy of being loved, of loving, of searching for greater things, and most importantly, for being seen and known for the person you are.

For a redefined version of beauty

i.pinimg.com

There are so many definitions of beauty in the world around us, and so many ways in which we are told we need to be successful. I love this quote because it clarifies that in the end, it's our love, courage and light that make us most alive and most beautiful.

For when the road seems long

i.pinimg.com

Good things take time! I love Morgan's reassurance here that we should allow ourselves the time to plant, sow, and grow.

For when you meet a kindred soul

i.pinimg.com

Similar to quote 8, this quote reminds us that our stories matter, that we all have them, and that the beauty in life lies in opening ourselves up to sharing our stories and learning from others.

I hope that at least one of these quotes has resonated with you. I always find that Morgan Harper Nichols articulates feelings in a way I never could. Her words are powerful reminders of our love, grace, and worth.

(For Girls Who Are Interested In Greek Life)

Sorority
Rebekah Lee

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
