With the start of the this unique semester approaching, many of our classes have been moved to online. Personally, I like listening to podcasts to help keep me focused. Here are I five that I suggest checking out!

1. You Can Sit With Us

from Apple Podcasts

Hosts: Maggie, Becky, Ariel

Spotify Description: Maggie, Becky, and Ariel are your new best friends. In their weekly podcast they dive into female friendships, current events, and what's going on in their lives. Sit down with them, and enjoy!

Why I Love It: I've loved these ladies since I began watching the Try Guys on Youtube. They are so open and honest about their pasts and presents and constantly encourage each other. You can tell they are best friends and are way more than just the "Try-Wives" and they prove it on this podcast!

2. Crying In Public

from Apple Podcasts

Hosts: Sophia, Aiyesha, Claudia, Sarah, Sydney, Savannah

Spotify Description: Welcome to Crying In Public, just another weekly podcast hosted by six 20-something, college women living in NYC. Follow along while they dive into growing up in a time where there's no distinction between what's public and what's private. Even though we're encouraged to put ONLY our best self forward on social media, these ladies dare to be open as young women navigating the 21st century. They cover everything from navigating relationships, to the best spots in the city, to trying to make sense of what in the world is happening around us.

Why I Love It: Honestly, these girls are living the life I wish I was living. It feels very informal, as if it's just some conversation these friends are having around a dinner table. The discussions are so relatable and hilarious. They get into the nitty-gritty of college life at NYU, and I cannot get enough of it.

3. WHOA That's Good Podcast

from Apple Podcasts

Host: Sadie Robertson Huff

Spotify Description: The "WHOA That's Good" podcast, welcomes you into meaningful conversations with authors, athletes, musicians, speakers and stars of film and television in search of the answer to just one question. What is the best advice you have ever been given? Hosted by Sadie Robertson, best selling author, founder of Live Original, and star of A & E's Duck Dynasty & Season 19 of ABC's Dancing with the Stars, this fun and lighthearted podcast is sure to leave you saying, "Whoa That's Good!"

Why I Love It: I have been a fan of Sadie since Duck Dynasty came on the air. She is very positive and gives honest advice to the modern women and gets really good guests!

4. Movies That Changed My Life

from Apple Podcasts

Host: Ian de Borja

Spotify Description: Each week IMDb host and producer Ian de Borja sits down with actors, filmmakers, and more to learn about the movies that inspired them to create their greatest work.

Why I Love It: I think I have been looking for a podcast like this for a long time and I am so glad I found it. I has been really awesome to hear the films that inspired these actors/producers/directors to enter the film industry. It is a reminder that all these people are just film lovers just like us. They've gotten some really impressive guests such as Elle Fanning, Judy Greer, and Darren Criss.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
