Art Smith is a native Floridan who went on to receive the highest awards in the culinary profession as well as cook for some of the world's most famous celebrities. Despite his Hollywood spotlight, he has never forgotten where he came from. With a focus on providing people with quality meals Chef Smith briefly discussed future plans with Florida State University that involve doing just that at this year's Word of South Festival.

When it comes to working to better the community Chef Smith is no stranger. He was instrumental in the creation of the huge non-profit organization Common Threads, which focuses on educating children on the importance of nutrition and physical well-being. Through art and cooking, Chef Smith and his team have reached thousands of children and adults. He is also the co-founder and executive chef at multiple restaurants, one being Lyfe Kitchens; a chain of fast-food restaurants that offer healthy and vegan-centric choices. With all this being said it is no wonder the hometown hero has started to make a change at his alma mater.

Being in a town full of people who are dedicated to preserving the historical, cultural, and local value of their area it is no wonder a man like Chef Smith was chosen to guide FSU's culinary lifestyle. As Culinary Ambassador Chef Smith will implement a brand new and expanded menu full of healthy and locally sourced fresh foods. This is something that Tallahassee has been working on for a long time. From our local markets to our festivals we are always finding ways to incorporate the work of people in the area. We should all do our best to support the talent we have blooming right here in Tallahassee and remember to give back when we can.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
