I hate to be one of THOSE people, really, I do. The election has come and gone and I am more than ready to put this all behind me. Before you disregard me all together, know that I am not choosing a side. I am not writing to bash any particular person. Instead I’d like to give my point of view, on the matter as a whole. But I’d like to start off with a short analogy.
Nov. 8th, Tuesday night. The Election Day. But also my father’s birthday.
I drove 45 minutes home to my registered district.
I knew I wouldn’t make a difference.
I knew that I wasn’t helping any.
But I voted 3rd party.
I’ve heard a lot of negative things from a lot of people regarding my actions.
But I did what I WISH everyone would do. I voted for who I wanted in office. I don’t hold it against anyone who disagrees, and I will not strike up an argument about it.
I guess my main issue is that I was so alone on this.
Voting today has several different trains
- You are a die hard supporter of a particular candidate (usually either Democrat or Republican).
- You vote for a candidate simply because you don’t want the opposing party in office.
- You vote with your party, despite whether you like the candidate or not.
I know it’s redundant, that the “two party system” is corrupt. I get that. And it is.
But why do we have to resort to voting simply because we don't want the other in office?
I just wish everybody stood a fair chance. That I wasn't the only one who thought this way. If everyone could just vote for who they wanted and disregarded the system….Wow, what a thought. I voted the way I did because its what I wanted, what I felt was right.
But that’s all I got for my soap box.
