More Awesome. Less Suck.

The wise pop star, Hannah Montana, once said, “Everybody makes mistakes, everybody has those days… Nobody’s perfect.” People strive for perfection but sometimes fall short of their goals. It’s only because we are human. Judgements are made on people who make mistakes, and I admit, it is sometimes hard not to but it is true, everyone does make mistakes. When we focus on the negatives in the world, life around us seems to suck. Instead, we should be celebrating the positives in life and live as if life is one big celebration and we can because people are awesome. I believe people are more awesome and less suck because we have made medical and technological advancements that may have never been thought possible and also because one person can change the world by standing up for what they believe in.

Throughout history, there have been life saving advancements made in medicine. People dedicate their lives to bettering and saving other’s lives. Currently, scientists put A LOT of hard work and time on the journey to finding a cure for cancer or alzheimer’s, for example. It’s pretty awesome to see how far we have come in history and how our education and knowledge can lead us to create awesome things to save awesome people. The medical advancements we can make in the future would not be possible without the technological advancements as well. For example, Apple products are seen and used practically everywhere you go. The technology we have in our lives today has made it possible to do things and create things that have never been possible before. Humans were the ones that got us to this point, some pretty awesomely smart humans.

In my opinion, it is really cool to see people stand up for what they believe in because it is a very difficult thing to do sometimes. Especially in today’s society, everyone follows the “mainstream” and when someone goes against it, I give them major props. Or when an authority figure is standing in your way but you keep fighting, that takes a lot of bravery and that is awesome. One example that comes to mind is Rosa Parks. Fighting for civil rights, she refused to move from that seat which came with consequences for her which she was definitely aware of but still went for it. Although she suffered major consequences in that time, the greatest effect was people continuing to fight for what is right, following in Rosa’s footsteps. An awesome person has the qualities of bravery and courage whether it’s doing something as extreme as protesting for what is right to going sky diving.

Yeah our world consists of plenty of celeb gossip, war, and politics which brings plenty of negatives to the world and that sucks, especially in light of this current election. However, these things can be viewed in a positive light as brave and courageous human beings doing what they do best and be awesome to try to make the world a better place all around. I believe people are more awesome and less suck because we possess qualities of bravery and courage and people dedicate their lives to making improvements in the world, for example the medical and technological fields, to better the lives of the world population. We are definitely not on the track to having an uprising that will lead us to starting the Hunger Games and killing off our children to survive cause that would suck. So put aside the election, the celeb drama, and any preconceived notions you have on anyone you don’t know because people can be pretty awesome.

In honor of Mother’s Day, I have been thinking of all the things my mom does for my family and me. Although I couldn’t write nearly all of them, here are a few things that moms do for us.

They find that shirt that’s right in front of you, but just you can’t seem to find.

10 Reasons To Thank Your Best Friend

Take the time to thank that one friend in your life you will never let go of.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
