Moonshine Maidens
By: Kayla Mastracchio
The moon shone full
And when the maidens stood around the altar
They felt the starry pull
And the music dragged their feet out under
The drumming they all knew
And then the maidens they did breathe
Because the time was 12:02
And every night they danced around
Until the sun broke through
And then the maidens flesh turned grey
Their feet turned solid too
The music stopped and they were locked
Their faces stuck like glue
The morning comes and the silence strikes
The maidens’ back to sleep
But every night they come back to life
And let the music free their feet
