4 Months Seem Like A Lifetime

I'm not the girl I was 6 months ago and I thank God for that.

4 Months Seem Like A Lifetime

My friendships with you all started 4 months ago, we had no idea who each other was and you met me at a weak moment in my life. You saw a side of me that was vulnerable, but you were there. You reached out and helped me see the good in what I only thought was bad. You gave me tough love in which I needed. You keep me grounded- but support my crazy ideas. You allow me to be who I am and I know I never have to fake it till I make it around you.

The memories we share together are ones I’ll hold on to:

  • Getting in trouble during staff meetings because we can’t stop laughing
  • Planning crazy road trips: DISNEY Here We Come
  • Stories we can’t yet share with others
  • Late night road trips to various secret places we now call ours
  • Supporting each other in all that we do
  • Being honest because you know it’s what we all need to hear
  • Telling each other we can’t spend money-but going for second dinner
  • Girls nights
  • A constant cycle of buying each other coffee as a way to pay each other back
  • Introducing me to your friends that have now become my friends too

I found sisters in you all. You have no idea how thankful I am to have you each in my life. I have had the best semester of my life since being here at Ambrose and I truly believe you all played a part in it. I have these dreams to go- travel- and experience new things and it is a great feeling knowing that I have great friends that support me.I know each of you are going to do amazing things in your life and will leave a mark on this world. Always know that no matter where life takes us, I will always be a phone call away.

At the start of this year I thought I wouldn’t be able to make it. The end of the semester is coming to an end and I have never in my life been this happy. Who I was 1 year ago, 6 months ago, or even 4months ago is not who I am now. I thank God for that every day. All that I have ever gone though has lead me to where I am today. I take it all as lessons to learn from.

I have been blessed to have amazing people in my life. I thank all those who have been lessons learned, who have hurt me, supported me, and those who have encouraged me. Thank you all for being chapter in my life, because without you all- I wouldn’t be where I am today—and I’m in an amazing place.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
