It's not a surprise that my mom knows best.

It’s that time of the semester where you don’t know if you should just skip the rest of your classes and go home for Thanksgiving Break a whole week early (whoops—is that just me?) With finals just around the corner, we are all scrambling to get our papers done, get our class schedules figured out, and attempting not to freak out because yet another semester is coming to a close which means we are one semester closer to real life. In a midst of all this craziness, I found a little something that brought me reassurance. My mom visited me last week and left me a list of encouraging bible quotes. So, if you’re a little stressed out and need some inspiration, I encourage you to read along. After all, moms know best!

1. “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

Psalm 16:8

I love this. Every time I read this, I think to myself, it’s all going to be okay because I am strong enough and I can do this.

2. “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

How refreshing is it to know that even in our deepest sorrows, at our loneliest hour, and during our times of need, God cares for us. No matter what our faults may be, the big man upstairs cares for us, individually and specially.

3. “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31

Sometimes it does feel like the world is against us because nothing is going right. But, at the end of the day, we have God on our side, and that’s the absolute best side to be on.

4. “Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4

When I think of the word “delightful,” I think of something that brings me bliss. I think of traveling and cupcakes with cream cheese icing and pretty parks on an autumn afternoon. If we delight in Him, imagine all that he can fulfill us with. It’s pretty amazing to think about.

5. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” Matthew 5:6

As a college student, it can be hard sometimes to do the right thing and to have integrity in all our actions. This verse is a reminder to want righteousness because what God can give is in return is so satisfying.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
