Momma,

You have raised me and molded me into the woman I am today. My life alone is something you are very proud of. You have done so much for me. You have always made sure I had what I needed. Regardless, the circumstance of a situation.

At a young age you planted a seed in me, you taught me about God. Now you’ve gotten to watch me grow. Not only as a person but you’ve watched my faith and passion for the Lord grow stronger. If I didn’t have you I wouldn’t be who I am today. Your influence in my life is so strong. I have no idea what I’d do without your guidance. If I have an issue big or small, I run to you. You always know what to do and what to say to help me through situations and make me feel better.

Our connection is so strong. I realize not everyone has a relationship like we do which makes me even more thankful that I get to call you my momma. You are my mom but you are also my friend. You are my momma when I’m hurt because you hurt, too, when I need your guidance because you’ve been through situations like mine and you teach me what I should do.

You are my friend when I come home at night and I sit and talk to you to talk about how our days went. I’ve come to realize something momma no matter how old I get I’m always gonna need you. Our relationship is one of a kind, something that you treasure forever, something that’s irreplaceable. I don’t know what I’d do without you.

I work and challenge myself daily to make you proud of me. Even when I have the worst days you are still my number one fan. You are always in my corner encouraging me and telling me things will get better.

On my good days, you are still in my corner. Standing right by my side happy and when you look at me you are reassured of what you have always told me — that my sister and I were the two best things that ever happened to you. I know how proud you are of me, I can see it in your eyes every time you look at me. And when I’m without you, when you aren’t around, I feel like a part of me is missing.

You’ve taught me what I know and I cannot thank you enough for every single thing that you do for me. The things that may feel like they went unseen or unnoticed, I appreciate them, I appreciate you. I’m so glad God picked you to be my momma. He always knew that I needed you and you needed me too.

I’ll always be your little girl no matter how old I get. Thank you for everything you have done for me in this life. I know I wouldn’t have half of what I do without you. You watched me grow up. You’ve always wanted what’s best for me. You’ve taught me to do the right things. You’ve given me everything that I will need.

Momma, when you look at me and reflect on my life, I hope tears of joy fill your eyes. Not only because you are proud but because you raised me to be the person I am today. You are amazing. I’m so blessed to call you my mother.

I love you, momma, forever and always.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
