When your mother's your best friend you don't realize how lucky you truly are. It took me a few years to recognize how fortunate I am to not only have my mother by my side but to also be able to call her my best friend.
There are certain mother-daughter relationships that are good and they do some things together. But, my relationship with my mom is something quite like no other.
Throughout my life my mom has always been one of the few people who understood me and kept me laughing no matter what. When I needed help on a homework assignment, or needed someone to tame my lion's mane, or even help perfect my little dance bun, she was always the first one I would call.
As I grew up my relationship with my mom changed. It evolved. It became something extraordinary. She doesn't just understand me when I'm having problems, she understands me and my quirkiness. If I'm having problems with school, friends or a relationship she is still the first person I call to help me out. Although now instead of just putting in a disney movie for me to watch, we'll have a nice glass of wine (to accompany the Disney movie, of course).
My years away at school really helped me recognize as to how important our bond is and helped develop it. Most people knew that if I was upset I wasn't texting/facetiming my boyfriend, it was my mom on the other end of that line.
I absolutely love that my friends look at you as their second mom, or another one of their friends too. It just shows as to how welcoming you are. It shows the amount of support you have for everyone that surrounds you.
I'm so incredibly blessed to have you. You are my role model. If there is anyone I want to be like as a mother, it is you. I want to be able to be the biggest support system and closest friend for my future son/daughter. When people say that I act just like you, it's really a compliment that I take to heart. It shows that some of your good nature rubbed off on me, and that maybe, just maybe, I will grow up to be your twin.
It's difficult to put into words how truly lucky I am. But, I need to say thank you for your support, your unconditional love, your perfect words, your understanding, your life lessons, and for being my best friend. You will always mean the world to me. I love you mom
