There are always moments every year that have an impact on the rest of your life. Someone new comes into your life, or someone else leaves it. No matter what there is at least one moment that leaves a mark on the future, figuratively and literally. This year has been full of trials and new things, but it has been a grand adventure.

Tattoo; A tattoo obviously remains a permanent part of my life. The ink permanently on my skin now constantly reminds me every day to believe in myself. It took a while to decide that I really wanted the tattoo. Looking at it now after 6 months, I think it was a great decision.

Joining a sorority; I never pictured myself as a sorority girl, because I always saw the stereotypes placed on them. Once I got to college, I realized that so many stereotypes are wrong and that joining a sorority could be one of the best adventures of my life. Through this experience, I have gained so many new friends, connections, and support that I know I can never be alone. I was sitting at lunch at a restaurant in my hometown and an alum from our chapter introduced herself because they saw my AGD shirt. These women will always be a part of my life and I will never regret my decision to join Alpha Gamma Delta.

New Roommate; Living with a new friend this past semester has been a great adventure. My roommate has become one of my best friends. I have a friend, a “mom”, a confidant, and a TV show buddy. Having her around added a whole new level of fun to my life.

Realizing my Dream; A lot of college students have no clue what they want to do with their lives and just stumble around through the first few years of school. I was like that until earlier this year until I realized that I can do anything I want to, and I want to open a bookstore. It may not seem plausible or realistic, but it is my dream and I will try it someday.

Getting sick and then finally finding some answers; Over the summer I began to get really bad headaches, dizziness, nausea, and other things that made it hard to do normal tasks. Working became really hard and it has been harder to focus on school because I was always in pain or feeling sick. After nearly 6 months of symptoms, we finally found some answers and I’m starting medication that can help me live my life to the fullest again.

Writing for Odyssey; I have written for Odyssey for almost a full year now. Joining the Odyssey team put me on the right track to build my writing abilities and share my writing with the rest of the world. Roughly 50 articles later, I have enjoyed writing every piece and sharing it with all of you. Thank you for reading my work.

I hope there have been some happy moments in your life this year and that much more will follow in the years to come.

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
