I am writing this particular article for the sole purpose of helping me focus on the good and happy things that are happening in my life right now. As a stressed out, sleep deprived, socially drowning college student, my roommate recently brought to my attention of how we need to stop focusing on the stressors of life and focus on the things that fill us with joy. So, here it goes.
This past weekend, I was able to attend a women’s conference about how Christ is MORE and how to find our identities in Christ. I can honestly say it was one of the most powerful things I have been a part of as a sophomore in school.
My family is so great. I hear stories about bad relationships of abandonment and distrust and I am reminded of how I was blessed with awesome parents and phenomenal siblings (including my sister-in-law). While I’ve been at school, I am not ashamed to admit that I text my family group message at least once a day.
A few weeks ago, my three roommates and I had a whole weekend free to ourselves. We had nothing on our schedules with minimal homework to do and no scheduled work hours. So... It led to our first girls weekend and let me tell you, it was so needed. It started with sleeping in late during morning, to shopping, to dinner and the movies, to a bookstore, and ice cream on Saturday. Sunday started with church and lunch, off to the lake house to swim and relax, and ended with another awesome church service.
I have fallen in love with Alpha Delta Pi. That sorority has brought me so much joy in friendships that I didn’t think was possible. As someone who was totally against all Greek life, it turned out to be something that has helped me become who I am during my first few years at college.
The weather is finally cooling down and the leaves are changing colors. Some of my favorite parts of the year are about to happen: pumpkin patches, holidays with family, and the Christmas break from school. And now I can finally break out my leggings and oversized sweatshirts.
Sometimes I think we need to stop, take a breath, and remember that in the midst of our crazy, busy life, there are still plenty of moments that turn into beautiful memories.
