Find Momentarily Escape In The Concrete Jungle Of NYC

You may be interning in New York City this summer, or perhaps you're spending a week or two there site-seeing - but regardless of your scenario, you're definitely deprived of the nature that your previous residence held. NYC is by far one of my most favorite cities in the world, but aside from its deep placement in my heart, the city still has a major drawback that most people are vexed by.

It may be because I don't venture out to the other boroughs, but Manhattan definitely lacks a surplus of natural environment and it makes people relatively mad. The thing is, although Manhattan doesn't have the natural feeling of the countryside, there are still a ton of hidden gems that people fail to recognize.

These places I'm about to list range from parks, to harbors, to even floating bars. Once you're done reading this article, my goal is for you to appreciate the outdoor summer in a city that is truly one of a kind, and put down the technology that drives our lives - I know you know what I mean.

1. Central Park

This well-known park is one of the most visited parks in the United States due to it being nestled in between the avenues of upper Manhattan. It's a quick getaway that any commuter can take and a place that would be perfect with a blanket, rosé, and a Netflix original.

2. Battery Park

In comparison to Central Park, Battery Park is a very different layout that alters the idea of a park. Battery Park is placed on the southernmost section of Manhattan, and viewers have a vast display of the multi-million dollar yachts that are docked in the harbor. These yachts come from all over the world, such as the coastal towns of Europe and South America. Your eyes will be flooded with wealth, and all your worries will be evaporated. And yes, it is where Leo stood on his boat and made it rain.

3. The Frying Pan

This kitchen appliance also happens to be one of the most enjoyable outdoor bar experiences in NYC. On Pier 66, it juts out into the Hudson River while crowds of people dance and drink white sangria. It's a fun spot for bringing a group of friends, or just going with your significant other. Warning: remember to apply sunscreen.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
