I never thought I would ever go through a day like this.
After having a successfully busy week, today, November 12th, 2016, was just like the rest of my week: busy. I had a little trouble with sleep and I woke up early to do a service project. I got back to my room around noon and spent some time to myself before I got a text from my friend asking me to come over to her apartment. I get to her apartment and relaxed with her. This lasted for an hour and thirty minutes. All of a sudden, everything went down hill. She lost almost all of her energy where it took too much effort to talk. I contacted some friends from her phone that could help. One told me to go and get her a snack and see if that helped anything. Ten minutes pass and no change happened. I relayed the message to the friend that told me to get her a snack and she told me to go ahead and give her another one of the same snack. I hand the next snack to my friend who ate them quickly. As I was standing around trying to figure out what to do, I noticed that my friend was shaking uncontrollably. I tried to talk to her but she couldn't respond. I took her phone and tried to call the friends I had previously contacted but I couldn't get into her phone since I did not know the pass code. Luckily, she did have it set up on her phone where it would read her fingerprint. I grabbed her hand and unlocked the phone. I called the friends asking them to come help. My friend stopped shaking and at that point, she passed out. At that point in time, I didn't know that she passed out. I was so scared that she was going to die that I watched her breath fall up and down until I finally realized she was still living. She was out for a good two to three minutes before she woke up. When she woke up, she had no idea what was going on or where she was. One of the other friends burst into the apartment and helped her up. We took her to MedExpress first and that is the place where she finally regained consciousness. She had no clue what had just happened or even how she got to MedExpress. We ended up having to go to the ER. She ended up being clear in all of the few tests they gave her.
I have always heard of stories where people had to go to the ER for people that had seizures but I never thought I would have to be the person to take someone because of it. Honestly, I have never seen anyone have a seizure until today. I miraculously got through the whole situation very calmly but inside I was terrified. This situation has reminded me that no matter how a person was feeling the day before, the next day could be a quick downhill slide.
