Mom, You Were Enough

There is never a moment where I take anything you've done for me for granted

Mom,

Your life was very far from easy. I really don't know how you've overcome all the obstacles that you've had to but it is truly inspirational.

When dad left us, it was hard and our whole lives changed forever. I know you worried about how we would survive, where we would live, and where our next meal would come from. I know that thoughts would race through your mind about how we would end up. Your main concern was that we would grow up to be good people. That's all you wanted and you wondered if you would be enough to do that on your own.

Mom, you were enough.

If I didn't have such a strong, inspirational, funny, kind, Godly woman as my support system, I really don't think that I would have made it as far as I have.

There were some rough patches, not going to lie, but that has only made us closer in the long run. I think you should be proud of yourself. You raised us to become hardworking, individual, empathetic, reliable and pretty hilarious (if I do say so myself) adults. I will always say that I know how hard you've worked and say that I know all the sacrifices you've made but I will never truly understand. You've probably done things for us that I don't even know about because you always protected us.

I'm so blessed to have a mother like you who I can turn to with anything. You're the best listener and always have advice that I actually want to follow. I work hard to make you proud even though I know that no matter what I do, you'll be there to support me 100%.

There is never anything that I could do in order to thank you for what you've done. All I can do is promise that I will continue to make you proud and show the world that you did a great job as a mother. Thank you for all that you've done for this family. You are a rock, you are my heart and soul, my best friend and I wish that I will be able to grow as strong and as dedicated as you are.

You were enough to be both parents and allowed us to have the best life that we could. There was never a moment where I felt as though my life lacked in any way because dad wasn't around. That takes a lot to accomplish and you did it all by yourself.

I am honored to call you my mother and I am truly blessed to have been raised by a woman who is admired by many.

My promise to you is this: I will always be there to take care of you just as you did for me. Whatever sacrifices that I need to make for you will be done without a second thought because I know that is exactly what you did for me. You will never have to be afraid of being alone because I will be right by your side. I will love you unconditionally and support you in everything.

I love you.

Everyone who is in college right now, or has ever been, knows the struggle of pulling in the strings at the last second. It seems impossible, and you have to do a LOT of things in order to assure your future for the next semester.

April Ludgate, historically, is a very annoyed person, and she doesn't hide it. Of all the times that I binged and re-binged "Parks and Rec," her attitude relates more and more to me.

To The Cheerful Person On Their Rainy Days, You Are Valid

The world is not always sunshine and rainbows, and you do not have to be, either.

Ask friends of mine to name a quality about me, and one a lot them will point out the fact that I am almost always smiling. I like to laugh and smile -- not to quote Buddy the Elf in April, but smiling is my favorite! It is probably my favorite go-to expression. However, what a lot of people do not see is that I have my down days. I have days when smiling and laughing is a real struggle, or when I have so much on my plate that going out of my way to behappy takes more effort than I have stored in me. Be it a symptom of college and growing up or a facet of life, I cannot always be content.
