To My Mom, It's Not Too Late

I know sometimes you might think because your older that you must settle for where you are now but I promise you, you don't.

To My Mom, It's Not Too Late
Stephan Seeber

Just a little bit over 19 years ago, you laid down on a bed inside a hospital to have your body torn open, just so I could be released into this world.

When I was growing up, you decided to give me this opportunity to literally be whoever I wanted to be and I can not thank you enough for letting me create who I am today.

You never once told me I had to act a certain way, hell you even let me go days without brushing my hair because I didn't want to. Then you would sit down and brush it out even if it took thirty minutes.

You never told me I had to think a certain way, I remember being only ten years old and telling you my thoughts on the afterlife and you were shocked because I had came up with the ideas all on my own.

Thank you for believing in me no matter what I chose to do.

Thank you for spending money we didn't have just so I could find what made me, me.

Thank you for being the mother some people never receive in life. I would not be here if it wasn't for all the love and support you gave me throughout the last 19 years of my life.

As my mother, the person who gave me the opportunity to live. The person who carried me for 9 months and gave me the most unconditional love these past 19 years, I need you to understand something.

" For what it's worth... it's never too late, or in my case too early, to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit. Start whenever you want. You can change or stay the same. There are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you've never felt before. I hope you meet people who have a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of, and if you're not, I hope you have the courage to start over again."

You deserve not only the world, but the stars that shine so bright so I always know which way to get home and the moon that reminds me that there is always a light in dark times.

You deserve to feel like a teenager in love with life skating around the roller rink again.

You deserve to travel every back road this country has to offer and see the beautiful cities of foreign land like Paris and London.

You deserve to have your heart burst out of your chest from the happiness filling your veins.

You have so much life ahead of you and despite what anyone says, you have time to do so much.

You can be whoever you want to be, it's not too late, I promise.

The things holding you back, the people holding you down, can be let go of.

You only have one life to live and there are thousands of mountains calling your name so please promise me one thing, you will go out and conquer them before its too late.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
