To The Mom Who Gives Me The World
Sara Durphy

Mom,

Let me start off by telling you how truly proud of you I am and how proud I am to be your daughter. In the past three years you have broken so many boundaries and made me so proud. You have done broad street twice going on three times this year (I am so excited to take part in this with you). You ran not only one but two half marathons, broad street and a 10k within four months. When I came to Disney and watched you cross the finish line at the Princess half marathon I was so proud of you. Then next thing I know you did Tinker Bell in Disneyland not even four months later and only a week after broad street.

Just to show how amazing my mom is here are all the medals from the races that she has done. As well as her bibs from all of her races. Just a look at some of the medals that she has; Broad Street 2016 and 2017, Star Wars Dark Side 10k 2017, Mickeys Virtual Running Shorts, Mickeys Wine and Dine 5k, Hot Chocolate 15k and more!!

Not only have you made me proud with running but you make me proud to be your daughter in general. I know that we argue and sometimes I can be a lot to handle but I still appreciate you and everything that you do for me. I know that no matter how much we argue you will still have my back.

You have also taught me so many things. You always seem to be right about everything. Like every time you tell me how you do not like someone and do not think they are a good friend in the end you are always right. I know that even though I do not always listen to you that you still always end up being right. So maybe I should take my own advice to Jack and start listening to what you have to say.

I also want to thank you. Thank you for sharing your love for Disney with me. You brought me to Disney growing up and worked so hard so that we could go on those trips and I am so appreciative of that. Thank you for always bringing me places and taking me shopping. Going shopping with you is always fun because you pick out and know my fashion sense better than I do. Thank you for letting me see the world. You have taken me to many places. You took me on cruises and to Cancun, Canada and all over the bahamas. Thank you for allowing me to travel overseas to Greece. You have never even been to Europe and you allowed me to travel over there by myself and get the experiene of a lifetime.

Most importantly, Thank you for being my mom.

Love,

Sara

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate
Mental Floss

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
