Not once in my entire life time have I ever kept something from my mother. Not a secret, not a lie, not even a bad grade.
Find it hard to believe? So do all my fellow teenager friends. This is because through movies and shows and history there is a belief of teenagers, daughters especially, rebelling and keeping secrets from their parents.
Most of us, including me, take our moms for granted, and for that Mom I am sorry. As many times I have believed that she kept me from doing what I want, deep down I knew she was right because she's ALWAYS right! Not only are our moms always looking out for our best interest, they are your best friends.
This article isn’t just dedicated to my mom but all the other mothers in this world.
So I say thank you. Thank you for taking care of me, for listening to me vent for hours, for crying and laughing through life with me, for always looking out for me, for always giving me the best advice, and for being my forever & always best friend. Most importantly I want to thank you for inspiring me each and every day to be a hard worker, to do the right thing, for always supporting me and my decisions, for being the best damn leader and hard worker I have EVER seen, and for showing me that confidence is the most beautiful quality one can possess.
Although we may not have noticed it five years ago and may not notice it five years from now, moms just want what’s best for their children, and will do whatever it takes. They are what I believe to be the backbone of the world.
As I get older I begin to realize that society is pushing me to let go of her hand and lead my own way. Thinking about growing up is scary, but the scariest part is not having my partner in crime next to me at all times. As I begin to bloom as a human being, I only wish to become half as amazing of a woman.
So wherever you are, do me and yourself one favor: call your mom or motherly figure in your life and just say thank you. There is nothing you can possibly do in this world to pay them back for everything they have done for you and all the knowledge they have passed on. But, you CAN put a smile on their face like they always do for you and show them that all their hard work of being a mother has truly paid off.
