Melanoma affects 1 out of every 5 Americans. You can also think of this as 9,500 every day....and on average, one person dies every hour. Skin cancer is by far the most common cancer. I think that everyone, including myself, needs to be more aware of the dangers. Trust me, girl, that tan isn't worth enough. My mom deals with skin cancer. Although her tumors are benign, it is an ongoing battle. She has to go to the dermatologist, where they have to literally dig the cancerous cells out of the layers of her skin. Painful right? Many people believe that if you do not get burnt when in the sun, you are not at risk for cancer. That is not true. Skin cancer has no mercy on your skin color, age, or gender. If you have light skin or light eyes your risk increases even more drastically.

Besides the scariness of skin cancer, sunscreen has other benefits. Sunscreen prevents premature aging. Who wants wrinkles or fine lines? Everyone strives to have young and radiant looking skin. It is proven that UV and UB rays cause a great deal of irreversible damage to your skin and sunscreen is the main preventative of that happening. But, if you're like me, you're not going to remember to put on sunscreen every day. I can barely remember to have my three meals each day. Here are some of my tricks: wear makeup with sunscreen, buy daily lotion and face moisturizer with SPF already in it! Easy enough. Research shows that wearing sunscreen every day it cuts your risk for skin cancer nearly in half.

I put together a short list of my top favorite affordable sunscreens to use daily.

1. Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer

Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer; Target: ($11.00)

This is by far my favorite drugstore facial moisturizer. I have sensitive skin that breaks out if I use anything that is too harsh and this is perfect for all skin types!

2. Origins A Perfect World Moisturizer with White Tea

Origins A Perfect World Moisturizer with White Tea; Origins: ($44.00)

This moisturizer is a little more on the expensive side but I absolutely adore this brand. It's never too early to prevent aging.

3. Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion

Lubriderm Daily Moisture Lotion; Target: ($5.49)

Your face isn't the only thing that matters. Using a body lotion with SPF on the daily is a great way to keep your skin healthy and radiant.

4. Simple Light Moisturizer

Simple Light Moisturizer SPF 15; Target: ($9.99)

This moisturizer saved my life on a budget. It is so light and does not leave any type of residue behind on your skin and fragrance-free!

5. Sun Bum Tinted Lip Balm with SPF

Sun Bum Tinted Lip Balm with SPF; Ulta: ($5.99)

You can't forget about those lips! There are various lip balms that have SPF in them but this one is my favorite. I love that it has some tint to it as well! Pretty and protected.

There are plenty of simple ways to add sunscreen to your daily routine. I know it's not easy, and I'm not perfect either. I hope that with the alarming statistics I told you about skin cancer along with these great products, that you choose to take care of your skin a little extra from now on. You deserve it and thank me in the long run.

birthday party

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.

College Informations

Most of us have already started the spring semester, and for those of you who haven't started yet, you suck.

It seems like coming back from winter break wouldn't really be a break all things considered, since we all come back to school and pick up right where we left off. We know exactly what to expect, yet we're unprepared every single time.

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.
