5 Reasons Why 'Modern Family' Is A Show Everyone Can Relate To

What is there not to love about the diverse show "Modern Family"? After watching it religiously for the past couple years, I have slowly seen how many things relate back to my family’s life. Here are a few reasons why everyone can relate to "Modern Family".

1. Brutally honest.

The show is one of the funniest shows I have ever seen. When you turn it on, the family is either throwing jabs at each other or having an honest loving moment. Each character has their own personality and all have different views of many important things in today’s world. Everyone in the family is not afraid to state their feelings toward one another and if they think your outfit looks bad, they will for sure let you know. Being honest with family is the key.

2. We all have someone in the family that’s like Phil.

Let’s face it: Phil is one of the most loved characters on the show. If you personally don’t strive to be like him, you must know someone in your own family who is just like him. From Phil always making dumb little comments and mistakes and him always wanting to be near Gloria, to forgetting small things his wife asked him to do that day, we all know a Phil Dunphy in our life.

3. Sibling relationships.

"Modern Family" has so many sibling relationships, you are bound to fit under the category of one. Alex and Haley for example. They are total opposites, but now that they are growing up, they are realizing that even though they are so different, they are still best friends. People can relate to Mitch and Claire too. As adults with families, they always have each other’s back. Even when the worst can happen to either of them, they know they can get through it together.

4. Diversity.

Diversity on "Modern Family" is one of the best parts about the show. Many families now a days are very diverse. From being a gay couple, to being from out of the country, to your all American family. The show shows all these diverse families and ways of life. There is at least one that will fit you just perfectly.

5. Relating to every character.

I know personally when my family and I watch the show, we always compare our family to the characters. There is someone for everyone! Alex being the super smart teenager, Haley for being the “party girl”, Mitch and Cam being the gay couple, Phil for just being Phil, Gloria for being the gorgeous family member, and so many more characters that you can relate to. Which one are you?

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
