Mockery Isn't Kindness

We're adults, and we should know better.

Yes, this is my rant. Why you ask? Because I am beyond frustrated. As you enter college, you're also entering adulthood. You're expected to conduct yourself as an adult. No, you don't have to be one all of the time. However, there are specific circumstances where it's just time to grow up.

For instance, we still need to respect authority. Even though we're now adults, we still have authority figures. Just because we're away from our mommas or our daddies doesn't mean we have free range to act however we want. We still have to carry ourselves in a respectful manner. Now, I know there are times when everything is fun and games. We can make jokes and we can laugh. However, when you're in a situation where you're supposed to listen to an authority figure, please do so without mockery. That's just plain rude.

We're in college. We're adults. But, we still respect authority figures-- even if they're the same age as you. It doesn't matter. Don't get annoyed or act surprised when someone asks you to be quiet in the library. It's common sense. Libraries are quiet for a reason. People come here to read, study, and do homework. At least have the respect to be quiet while they're doing so. You wouldn't be very happy if someone else disrupted your studies, now, would you?

I'm so done with people thinking they're above certain rules just because they're considered adults now. I know that one day they will get a taste of their own medicine, but I'm just sick of it. I'm ready for people to realize that being rude doesn't get them anywhere in life. It doesn't take that much effort to just be kind to others.

"Be someone's sunshine when their skies are grey."

You really don't ever know what someone is going through or how their week has been. Be kind. Show love.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
