Growing up in the days of knowing nothing but technology, us millenials know the ins and outs of our cell phones.

Everyone knows the basic apps that everyone has such as Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and so on, but others might not know the apps that are very beneficial to us as college students.

Here are 11 apps that will get you through your college years!

1. Venmo

If not the most important app to have as a college student. You can easily pay anyone for those food runs of for movie tickets and even bills. What makes it even better? It's free!

2. Uber

Now not all colleges might be in areas where you can get an Uber (Shippensburg sadly does not have any drivers), BUT for those that live in cities or other highly populated areas, Uber is a must! If you don't have a car, take Uber because it is so much cheaper than taking a traditional taxi!

3. Square Cash

Square Cash is the same concept as Venmo, however, it is more popular of the two depending on what area you live in. It has all of the same functions as Venmo and a very user-friendly program.

4. Quizlet

Who doesn't love Quizlet? You can create your own virtual study tools and find other sets that students have created as well.

5. iTunes U

Not everyone will end up needing this app but is extremely helpful for those that do. Professors will use it to upload all kinds of resources that will help you throughout the duration of your course. I had a professor record and upload his lectures which were a HUGE help!

6. Amazon

I would be lying if I said Amazon wasn't an obsession of mine. With that being said, who can resist free 2-day shipping with Prime (all students get their first 6 months free)!

7. Headspace

Headspace is perfect for those days when you are extra stressed from all of the assignments that you have or when finals week has come. Headspace gives you guided meditation that makes you feel new again!

8. Your personal bank

Having the app that goes with your own personal bank account is a must because, in college, money seems to be spent way faster than it is made. Keeping up to date with your spending and where it is going is crucial so that you don't spend it all on food runs.

9. Chegg

This app makes Chegg even better by making getting your textbooks even easier to get.

10. Your school's

Maybe the most important app for you to have, the one that is for your school. You are able to get all of your school's resources in one app and in a mobile friendly way!

11. GroupMe

Essential for anyone that is in a big group. Both Android and Apple users can all be in one huge group text without getting them sent in a weird order.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
