To continue the process of picking a social club that fits towards you, here comes the MIXERS! Now to explain what a mixer is in my own words: A mixer is a party where you go and dress accordingly to the theme (because it's way more fun that way) and you partake in the activities and awesomeness of the club and meet new people and then decide if you would like to join that club or not. Now in reality, some people just come to get free food or a free t-shirt, but that's when we call those people "lame". Actually participating in the activities and meeting new people are what is awesome about these mixers.

The club mixers I went to were: Kappa & Phi Lambda and Epsilon & Delta's and both of them were so great! To start off with the first night of Kappa & Phi Lambda was the theme of "Redneck Olympics". To running in a sack race with garbage bags, to seeing how far you can spit a sunflower seed, the whole night was truly a Redneck's Paradise. We all dressed up in our trashiest Redneck attire and then danced the night away to "The Wobble & Cubic Shuffle". The summary of the night is that I now understand why Kappa's slogan is the "Kappa Krazies".

Night two was Epsilon & Delta's night theme of: Mardis Gras Paint Party. They had it on Big Grass and had tents lit up with green and purple Christmas lights. The event was a paint party, so it was a very colorful paint party with an addition of water balloons. I can say that everyone there that night had an exceptional time and had to spend a little longer in the shower than usual, so they can scrub the paint out of their hair. Plus, rinse off very well since there was a Slip-N-Slide that contained LOTS and LOTS of baby oil. Let's just say that I scrubbed for a good five minutes before I felt it come off! Nevertheless, I had a really great time of fun and frolly and got a really cute t-shirt as well! When it comes to water balloon fights boy versus girl style, I now understand why they say Epsilon is the most competitive. Them bulldogs don't play around!

I want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to all of the clubs and people who help set up these awesome events! This is why I'm proud to be a Faulkner Eagle! Soar Eagles.

Being a part of any organization undoubtedly comes with the pitfalls of being grouped into negative stereotypes, and sororities are certainly no exception. Here are the top few things, that I find at least, are some of the most irritating misconceptions that find their way into numerous conversations...

8. "The whole philanthropy thing isn't real, right?"

Well all those fundraisers and marketing should would be a waste then wouldn't they?

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
