Fans of Disney Park's iconic Hollywood Tower of Terror were sad to see the attraction retire this January, but its successor, Guardians of the Galaxy--Mission: BREAKOUT! is not one to disappoint!
Hundreds gathered last weekend to celebrate the opening of Summer of Heroes at Disney's California Adventure Park. Summer of Heroes is the latest production at the happiest place on earth, and with the chance to meet Marvel characters like Captain America, Spiderman, and Black Widow, it's also the most heroic!
California Adventure's Hollywood Land was decked out in the attention to detail Disney is known for, with fan favorites and easter eggs just around every corner!
In addition to an entire Studio Store filled with Marvel merchandise so that every guest can "hero up," awesome treats themed around the heroes can be found at nearly every stop!
Even the Red Car Trolleys of Buena Vista Street saw some heroic action, with Ant-Man and his power to shrink himself and the objects around him that is!
Though exploring the sights and meeting some favorite heroes were definitely ranked high on the weekend's to do list, everyone had the same right up at the top-- catching a free fall ride through the Collector's Fortress on the newest Disney attraction, Mission: BREAKOUT!
Guests were met with an astounding sight when approaching the attraction, as what once appeared to be a crumbling, cob-webbed hotel lobby has been transformed into the lavish fortress of Taneleer Tivan-- the eccentric Collector from Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. As the story goes, the Guardians were brought to California Adventure for the Collector's exhibition of his finest possessions, but one of the Guardians has a different plan in mind.
So by following the Guardians' favorite "trash panda" and listening to the tunes of Starlord's "Awesome Mixtape," it's up to each of the Collector's guests to help Rocket Raccoon free the fortress's massive collection and unleash the best escape plan in the entire galaxy!
The attraction itself is much faster and has more drops than its predecessor, but the upbeat music and shenanigans of the chaos the Guardians find themselves in makes it difficult to scream rather than laugh.
After escaping the fortress and freeing the rest of the collection, the Guardians themselves can sometimes be found throwing an "Awesome Dance Party" in Hollywood Land, giving guests the chance to meet Star Lord, Gamora, and Groot.
With six different storylines and songs to free fall to, Mission:BREAKOUT! is bound to be a park favorite for years to come.
