Who Needs Breaks Anyways?!

Now that school is back in action, that means that friendships are full force again too. Going to school in a big city is different because almost everyone is from somewhere else. Small towns sprinkled throughout the country where the only way we can reach them is through FaceTime. Not all of us traveled home for the full break or at all, and life in the city without our friends got pretty lonely. Here are some of the feels of being without your bestie when they go out of town:

1. You spend your nights sitting at home since there is nobody to go out with:

There's nothing worse than picking up the phone to see what the plans are for that night only to remember that there is nobody to call. Your bestie and other pals are all somewhere else so the only place you'll be turning up is on the couch.

2. Being crazy jealous when you see them hanging out with other friends:

How dare they have friends that aren't me? I mean sure they met them before me, and there's no possible way we can hang out, but if I am alone and bored they should be too damn it!

3. Seeing photos of their hometown and wishing you were there:

It always is tough to be stuck in the city when everyone else gets the comfort of their own home. Wether you went home for a week or two or didn't go home at all, seeing your friends enjoying a big house, animals, and sometimes even warmer weather, you want nothing more than to leave the city. Plus that place has your best friend in it, why wouldn't you want to be there?!

4. Time differences put a damper on the phone parties:

It feels so tragic when your friend finally gets back from dinner with family at 10pm and tries to FaceTime you but its 1am your time and you just don't have it in you to stay up for hours to talk. You feel torn and remember how much distance sucks.

5. You're always asking them to come back earlier:

"I have another two weeks before I come back"

"Sooooo I will see you tomorrow?"

Denial is all apart of the process and you just can't come to accept that theres still so much time before you see them again.

6. You constantly send them random things:

Your friend logs onto social media with over 20 notifications and they're all from you. Memes, photos, statuses, videos..the list goes on and on. While they were at the mall with their middle school bestie, you were sitting alone sending them a bunch of random things you saw online hoping to make them smile and remind them of the bond you two so strongly have.

7. When you do FaceTime, you talk for hours:

You don't waste a second of catching up and filling each other in on all of the things you're missing out on by not being together. Although you mostly just listen to them talk since besides going to buy ice cream, you haven't really left your room.

8. Seeing them for the first time in weeks:

The time has come...THE DAY THEY COME BACK! You have spent all day watching their snap story of them at the airport, you have taken off your cheeto dust covered sweatshirt and you are ready to have a life again. The minute you see them you know that all is right in the world again.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
