The Truth About Missing The People You Love
Rob Norris

Everyone has people they miss: friends, family, or anyone else you can think of. This past weekend, I got to spend a day with my second family. Two of them I haven't seen since October 2014, two of them I haven't seen since February 2015, and the other one of them, I haven't seen since May 2015. Right now, I miss my second family so much. You don't even understand.

We call it the Dasher Fam. You may be wondering who my second family is made up of. Well, I posted a picture up above of us this past weekend. From left to right we have Me, Dan Smyers, Ali, Marci, Allison, and Shay Mooney. I bet your probably saying, woah, Dan + Shay are your second family? Yeah, we consider this a second family. We have so many memories over the past three years since they've started out, it's crazy. We've all been there since the start. Even though the girls and I have only known each other for about a year and a half, we had so many memories with the boys, whether it's our own memories with the boys or our memories together. We will always be one big family.

This past weekend was the first time we've all been together since last October. It was an absolute blast! It was my first time seeing the boys in eight months, and they were so excited to see the girls and I all together. We waited in the cold and rain for 11 hours to be almost front and center for the boys. From waiting in the crazy weather to me being my crazy self to the crazy drunks at Country In The Capitol, we were making memories that will last a lifetime. Having to leave my second family this past weekend was so hard. The heartache you get when you don't know the next time you'll see them is seriously the worst.

What I'm trying to say is even though we all miss people we love, we just have to push through the day and stay strong. It doesn't matter what we've been though, because it makes us all stronger in some way. It can also teach you things you can't learn otherwise. We are all Just The Right Kind Of Crazy for our families.

To my Second Family:

"Damn, Baby, I'm Proud." We've been through so much in a lot or a little time; from Fahlo to CMA Fest to the road trips to the shows, from our crazy nicknames like Nate's Pocket Pal and Ninja Mooney to inside jokes like "I swear guys, I drive better while eating." I love you guys so much. I could never thank you enough for everything I've learned from y'all. Thanks for all the music and memories.

It's never goodbye. It's always see you later. I'm looking forward to the everlasting bear hugs that get me through the days, the laughs we share while waiting the long ass lines, the memories from every show, the music we play and sing endlessly, and the things that make us, well, us. Love you lots and see you soon.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant

There's always chaos in the restaurant business.

10 Signs You Work In A Restaurant
Brisanis

Working in the restaurant industry is possibly the most fundamentally challenging occupation I have ever experienced when it comes to hospitality and customer service. When you go to a five-star restaurant you expect the time of your life, a two hour getaway, a walk through another time period (rustic Italy, France, Spain, etc), or simply a honeymoon undergo. What you don't see are the behind the scenes scut work: carrying trays, polishing glassware and silverware, kitchen chaos, the list is endless. Now, I'm not saying being a host, server, or bartender is the worst thing in the whole wide world, there are definitely worse things. But the fact of the matter is that it isn't always sunshine and rainbows. In the two years that I have spent in restaurant and customer service, I have spoken my share of expletives, yelled at kitchen staff, and dealt with not-so-happy guests. It isn't easy to keep a bright and shiny smile on your face when all you want to do is choke every person who walks near you. Anyone who has spent even two weeks working in a restaurant understands the rigor and stress that comes with it. Restaurant culture is a tiny world in and of itself that operates on its own principles and creates its own society. It even has its own language. The sayings "runner", "corner", and "on a bus" wouldn't make sense to anyone otherwise. My mother and I both work in a restaurant and the best advice I can give someone going out to eat is to treat us like people. Yes...believe it or not we are people, people. Say "please" and "thank you", or stack your cleared plates before a busser gets to the table. Trust me, the gesture goes a lot farther than you may think.

So, if you work in a restaurant, you can relate with the following points. If not, check out how the brain of a restaurant service (or any customer service) worker actually works. See if you can identify any crazy weird habits your friends have a tendency to partake in.

One of the scariest things we will ever face in our life is going to college. Many of us move away to a new town, join new organizations, and make new friends. We are expected to study, have a social life, relationships, maybe work, and be healthy. It seems pretty easy to do, and in high school all we wanted to do was graduate and move on to this next chapter of our lives. If you are in high school, here are some things that you can learn from before you get to college. If you have already been through your freshman year of college, hopefully you can relate to the things I have learned in college.
