In life, there are a few different chapters you go through. Some of those chapters are rough, some are smooth sailing, and some are like a crazy rollercoaster ride (which may give you whiplash). If you are lucky enough, you will have a few good friends along the way that will take on a chapter with you. If you are REALLY lucky, you will have a few that will start and end multiple chapters with you. And then if you are REALLY REALLY lucky, you get to meet some amazing people that will leave a lasting impact on your life that will make those chapters tough to leave behind. One of those chapters for me would be high school, in particular, the summer before my 11th grade year...
August 7, 2010. I remember it as clear now as I did back then. I was sitting in Wendy's on a hot summer day with one of my friends when I heard that someone had been in a car accident, one of my best friends. I didn't believe it was her, I couldn't believe it was her. I called her phone and she didn't answer so then I called her mom... She didn't answer either -- it couldn't be true. I called my mom and all she would tell me was to come home right away... it was true.
Long story short, the months following that day were the hardest... on everyone. It was like a domino effect, things kept getting worse. I guess that's how the saying goes, things have to get worse before they get better.
Though that chapter in my life has come and gone, I wish she could be here for the rest of my life chapters. There are some friends that you know are only short term friends, ones that you know wont stick around long. She wasn't one of those friends. She was one I knew for a fact would be a lifelong friend, a forever friend.
She's a friend who left a lasting impact on everyone she met. I think about her everyday and I miss her terribly. Until I am lucky enough to see her again, I'll be forever thinking about my forever friend.
