Missing My First Love

Now, this may sound like I'm talking about a girl or something but it's not. It's not even a person, it's a thing, and it's how I got my love for sports. This love that I miss is the love to play my childhood favorite sport, baseball. Here it goes.

The last time I played baseball was almost 7 years ago, back in 8th grade on my elementary school team. I had to, unfortunately, end my career with baseball when I didn't make the team for my freshman year of high school. To this day I still think I should've made the team but I've come to grips with it being the end. Baseball has been my favorite sport since the first time I picked up the bat and glove.

I remember a lot of my years in the local township league and school ball days. Even my first team that I played on for the township. We were the local farm company that was the hangout spot throughout those days. It was so much fun playing with friends from the same school and talking friendly trash to them. A lot of excitement would fill the mind when your friends were pitching or catching when you went up to bat. The last time I played baseball was far too long ago. Now I've had catches and played pickle but nothing ever comes close to when I played the sport of baseball.

(This is a picture of me but it's blurry because of the quality of the camera I used at the time). I've had many memories while playing the game. I've helped win championships, make game-winning grabs, and getting clutch hits. I remember back in 2007 and 08 when my team won the championships, in those moments I felt greatness. Even when I was on my elementary school team there was a lot of friendly rivalries that would concur. Seeing friends from other schools and watching our team play the best were major highlights of the year.

Overall baseball was my first love for sports. For me, baseball is like those "cherish every second before it's gone" things. There's really never a day where I don't miss playing the game that got me into sports. That's the whole reason why my major is sports related because of my passion and dedication to sports. Now since then I have found a love for basketball but my all time favorite is still baseball. I wish I could play again and maybe I will someday. You never know, if I get the opportunity to play baseball in some adult league I will lace up my cleats, brush off my bats, get my glove and hat and play. that will be the best feeling to be out on the field again.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
