It doesn't matter if it was just a weekend trip home, a week vacation, or a full on month for winter break; all these breaks leave us missing Manhattan and the memories made within the little apple. There are some things in Manhappiness which simply cannot be replaced.

1. The famous grilled cheese mac and cheese.

Sorry, Mom, your grilled cheese is good, but not that good.

2. Manhattan Hill.

Is your town really a town if the name isn't displayed on a hill for us to visit? Technically, yes; emotionally no.

3. Aggieville.

Just as awesome on Tuesdays, as it is on Thursdays, as it is on Saturdays.

4. The people.

They are more than just people -- they are family.

5. Call Hall ice cream.

Yes -- even in the winter.

6. The purple.

Purple T-shirts, purple ice cream, purple pens, purple hearts. Everyone and everything looks better in purple.

7. The Konza prairie.

Makes for the perfect study break in any season, and only 15 minutes away from campus.

8. Campus itself.

Because even on the most dreadful days you can't really complain when you attend one of the most beautiful campuses around.

9. The sunsets.

You haven't really lived until you've watched a sunset over the flint hills.

10. K-State college life.

And, yes, that includes the late nights in Hale during finals weeks, the early morning classes, and the most boring of the lectures. College wouldn't really be college without it.

We'll be back soon, Manhattan.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
