5 Reasons It's SO HARD To Leave Your Best Friend Back Home To Move To College

In This Article:

Going to college is one of the most exciting things you can do. So many new places, experiences, and people. But one thing you probably have to sacrifice is your best friend. Whether she's still in high school, or you two went to different schools, you'll definitely miss her like crazy.

1. No one at college really knows you.

One of the coolest but also scariest things about college is that no one knows you. You can use this to your advantage to create a new name for yourself, but this also means that no one can be there for you the way your best friend can. It makes missing her 1,000 times worse.

2. Usually your schedules don't align.

This makes FaceTime dates very hard. You don't usually get the chance to catch up.

3. Missing out on all the drama back home.

Since you don't have the time to have a long conversation, you don't get to hear about all the drama going on in her life. The cute boys she's talking to, the weird girl drama, school stress, and all of that essential stuff kind of goes away.

4. Not being able to be there for each other during huge moments.

I've only been gone a month, but she's already missed out on huge parts of my life, and I've missed out on hers too. It can be really hard trying to talk to each other about the new stuff in your life when you two don't get to talk every day now.

5. Realizing that none of your college friends are going to compare to her.

College friends are incredible, and they're one part of the huge change you're going through in college. But neither your new sorority sisters or the friends you've made in class can compare to her, and you realize just how much you miss her.

I'm serious

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
