I Miss The Times When Going To The Library Was Safe!

People might be infected when they enter the library. Also, people touch books. I do not know whether or not germs are on the books.

During the pandemic, I do not go to the library. It is dangerous outside. People might be infected when they enter the library. Also, people touch books. I do not know whether or not germs are on the books. I do not know if the books have been sanitized. People have to keep the books clean now after they borrow them. During the non-pandemic times, people do not need to worry too much about how dirty the library books are. We do not need to worry about people being sick at the library. To be safe during the pandemic, I just read e-books on my cell phone or laptop.

Even though I read e-books, I still prefer physical books to e-books. E-books can cause headaches because people have to look at electronics for a while. Also, they can make people not be able to fall asleep at nighttime. Physical books will make people more comfortable. People can read physical books to make them tired. This is the benefit of borrowing books from the library. Now, the benefit of e-books is the protection from infected books and people.

Not going to the library during the pandemic means that I cannot use my library card for a while. People should go to the library so that they will not waste their library cards. When the pandemic gets better, I do not mind going back to the library. However, I do not know when the pandemic will be over. This means that I do not know when I will be able to go back to the library. When that day comes, I have to renew my library card. I have to get a new one because I lost my big one but I still have my small one. I hope that day comes.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

1. People assume you are mad all of the time.

2. Ten out of ten times you will give off an intimidating impression to others.

3. People do not acknowledge your feelings because you "do not have any."

4. Constantly being exhausted from trying to smile and not look like a witch.

5. And on the rare occasion your facial expressions show how happy you are, your friends think you are going crazy.

6. Each of your friends has said "I thought you were so mean when I first met you" at some point.

7. Then they follow that by saying "you are just hard to read."

8. So naturally if people do not know you they just assume you are a snob.

9. And when you are actually mad, your facial expressions are horrifying.

10. In the end you always look like you are judging people, when in reality people are ALWAYS judging you.
