The holidays are right around the corner and everyone back at home wants to hear about your "extravagant, luxurious" Florida lifestyle. When in reality, going to college in Florida is just like going to school anywhere else. The only thing different is the paradise looking atmosphere as you drown in your studies.
Misconception #1: "If you live in Florida now you must be so tan!"
Actually, that's only for retired people. I barely get a day off to lay in the sun during the prime hours.
Misconception #2: "Isn't Florida just a bunch of grandparents?"
Well I'm sure YOUR grandparents live in Florida, but is has a normal age population. Plus, grandparents can be a lot of fun when you're in college.
Misconception #3: "You must go to Disney World all the time."
How is a college student suppose to afford Disney?
Misconception #4: "It's sunny all the time in Florida. I mean it's the sunshine state!"
We torrential downpours every day for a few months at 4pm and the streets are flooded.
Misconception #5: "You probably don't own any jackets anymore!"
We have seasons and it does get chilly here. It just doesn't snow.
Misconception #6: "Isn't it like spring break year round there?"
Don't worry the beaches aren't crowded after April and March. And it's not an "all you can drink" affair.
Misconception #7: "Florida must be so cool to live in"
Well actually, there's always a weird headline in the news about the craziest stories. Floridians are dare devils.
Misconception #8: "Do you get hit with hurricanes all the time?"
Not as often as the weather man makes it seem! There's no reason to buy out Walmart every time there's a hurricane warning. Instead we have hurricane parties.
