Summer: The time for students to soak up experiences and takeopportunities

After taking a small break from writing, I have allowed myself to reflect on the fact that summer is more than just a time to sleep in, watch television, and hang out with friends. Instead, summer is a time to do the things that you do not have time to do during school, and even more so, to take the time to make the changes in your life and take experiences that effect your persona for the better. For some, this is working to make money for school and meeting people along the way, as well as experiencing how to manage in a work environment. For others it is travel, taking classes, making their newest invention come to life, spend time with family, etc. To each their own, right? I mean, we all live different lives and I am certainly not here to define what the meaning of summer is… but I am writing about the fact that I appreciate summer because I am fortunate enough to really take advantage of the time we have off. I am writing this article from Las Vegas, where I am vacationing with my family. At this point, from the time I have been off from school, I have been to Miami, Florida, Hershey, Pennsylvania, Las Vegas, Nevada and have seen Harry Styles in concert twice, Shania Twain in concert, U2 in concert and am going to Greece in August. I work full time for my parents at their Gastropub and Beer Garden in Astoria, Queens. I think it is refreshing to have a break from the college bubble and live in the moment for the summer months, because as soon as we know it, college students, we will graduate and will need to get jobs to support ourselves. In writing this article, I am reflecting on the fact that this is the time of my life, I am soaking up the experiences and learning to enjoy some free time, because soon enough I will be preparing myself for the school year once again.

I find it pertinent to recognize the point in our lives that we stand at and become aware of the world around us. However, we must recognize the points where we stand in our lives and radiate positivity, because being positive is what enhances our lives; even more so, reflecting on the lives we stride moves us to soak up experiences and take opportunities.

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
