Lemony Snicket once said, "Miracles are like pimples, because once you start looking for them you find more than you ever dreamed you'd see." Like pimples, miracles are fairly hard to see and can bring you a lot of pain. They can arise from many hardships, like losing a best friend or being in a car accident. My miracle came from a bottle. The bottle of a fifty-year-old man who decided that it was in his best interest to drink and get behind the wheel of a car.

My night was like most college student's during the summer, I was just coming off of a nine-hour shift at work with only the focus of paying my tuition. I walked out to my car, the sun of summer was beginning to cool and I was heading out to Toledo to spend a night with my brothers from Kappa Delta Rho. It was supposed to be a fun and exciting night. Right before I entered my car the strangest thing rested on my hood, it was a butterfly. Now a butterfly doesn't seem like a very interesting or out of place thing to see, which is exactly what I thought.

So after I jumped in my car and sped my way down to get on the highway, I didn't expect what would happen next. I was so focused on the road and my green light, that the Jeep Cherokee came out of nowhere. Through all the chaos and confusion, I found myself spun out 100 feet away in a ditch. After the police, ambulances, and all the stopped cars staring to see what happened, I heard the words that most people in my position would want to here.

"You were pretty lucky to walk away from this one."

The words stuck with me. All the way home the police officer's voice rang in my ears, and the next day the only thing on my mind was the accident. So what's so special about this? It was actually the butterfly. My aunt always told me that she could see my uncle Greg in her yard as a butterfly, keeping an eye on her and making sure she was OK. My uncle passed away from cancer when I was in eighth grade and I always wanted to feel like he was looking down on me. When I thought back to that butterfly I instantly knew that it was a sign that he was looking out for me. He knew I had more to accomplish, to me it was second chance to have a different outlook on life.

So my miracle from a bottle is a lesson to be learned by all college students. Your decision to drink and drive can be deadly for someone else. Not everyone is lucky to walk away from a T-bone from a drunk driver. This article can be an interesting read for someone or it may give you a chance to have a different outlook on life.

Lemony Snicket was right. There are miracles all around us, in different situations, and at different times in our life. It just takes looking at things from a different perspective, and when we can do that, the miracles begin to show themselves.

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
