Winters in Minnesota are brutal. There is no way to put it lightly. There are days where it feels like -50 degrees outside and other days where the high is 40 degrees, and these two temperatures could happen in the same week. Some winters are milder than others and some are so extremely cold it is hard to even make yourself get out of bed because why get out of your warm bed when it is so cold outside. There really is no way to properly describe a Minnesota winter because even Minnesotans do not know how the winter may turn out. So, here are five thoughts almost everyone has during a Minnesota winter.

1. It's finally snowing!

This comes any time from October to December because you never know when the first snowfall will happen, but it is guaranteed to make people excited. Snow is a staple during Minnesota winters and when the first snowfall happens it is always a fun time. Besides when Minnesotans seem to forget how to drive as soon as one snowflake hits the ground and there are accidents almost everywhere.

2. What should I wear today?

This is a reoccurring thought because sometimes it's in the negatives in the morning but by the afternoon it has warmed up quite a lot. You may need a warm winter coat, hats, gloves and the whole nine yards to leave your house and still be cold

in the morning but when you put it on to leave somewhere you may instantly start sweating with all that gear on.

3. Let's go *insert fun snow activity here*!

It is almost inhumane in Minnesota if you do not do at least one winter activity during the winter. There are bigger activities that need some skill like snowboarding or downhill skiing, but there are fun activities for people that aren't as skilled or coordinated, like building a snowman. One major activity that is fun for all ages is sledding, and all you really need is something to sled down with (including real sleds or even a bit of plastic or cardboard) and a snow-covered hill (which is not hard to find in Minnesota). Another fun activity for everyone is ice skating and there is never a frozen lake or even pond far from wherever in Minnesota you are.

4. It's not that cold!

People from places other than Minnesota might think that 40 degrees is incredibly cold, but to Minnesotans that is a heat wave during winter and you are sure to see some people wearing shorts or skirts. There are people that are not used to the cold yet still bundled in all the winter gear questioning why someone is wearing shorts but come on it's not even that cold!

5. Is it spring yet?

This thought can happen the day after the temperature hits 0 or after months of freezing cold temperatures, it depends on the person. When there is still snow in April however, almost every single person will be hoping for spring.

Whether it is the first day of winter or the last, these are five thoughts almost everyone has during a Minnesota winter. However, let's be real, it would not be a Minnesota winter without below freezing temperatures and tons of snow.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
