Mindset Of Adventures

Adventure: (noun) an unusual and exciting, typically hazardous, experiences or activity.

(verb) engage in hazardous and exciting activity, especially the exploration of unknown territory.

Believe it or not, adventures do not have to be dangerous, expensive, or even far from your home. Adventures are what you want them to be, and what you want to learn from each trip. Going on adventures is all about the mindset you have before going into each one. Oftentimes, we find ourselves just going with the flow, or trying to like things other people enjoy, and that’s not fair to our inner selves. Each person must go off and have alone time, explore, and become closer to finding themselves.

My definition of adventure is doing something out of the ordinary at a random time, whether that be alone or with people you love. With this simple definition, I can turn almost anything into my own adventure. No matter where we go, or how far we are from home, we never stop learning and seeing new things.

Being able to let go and let life take you into the wind allows more randomness into your life. Don’t be scared to do something because it's different, or something you think you might not like. Don't worry about the consequences..... just do it.

Here are some tips to get you started on stimulating, mini adventures:

Expect the Unexpected: After all, this is how you end up on an adventure most of time by things not going according to plan. Things are almost better this way when plans don't go through yet you’re still optimistic about what could come later.

Try New Things: Cliche, I know, but how do you know what you like or don’t like without even trying it first? Trying new things can open up anyone's horizon rather that new thing is good, bad, or indifferent.

Hangout With New People: Although it's fun to be around your best friend(s) most of the time it also gets old, turns into a routine, and can hinder one's growth. You must take an interest in new people. Talk to people that you normally wouldn’t speak to, listen and reminisce on the conversation later. This is how you open the door to new things.

Make a Bucket List: Some things on the list might not ever get done but at least you thought about it and tried. You have nothing else to lose so why not face every obstacle in life? By making a bucket list keeps your mind wondering and open to new cuisine, people, and cultures.

Have Courage: Nothing sucks more than wanting to do something different but being scared of the outcome. There is no bad outcome in life. Be optimistic towards everything and say yes. The only bad outcome of having courage is saying no because you’re chicken.

Starting your stimulating, mini adventures will take a lot of effort but I guarantee it won’t do much harm to your life. Take the time for yourself to dream and explore right now.

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
