How Mindset Affects Everything

Ever tired and sad how life got you down? You're only adding to the problem....

How Mindset Affects Everything

So when I first started looking into mindset and daily affirmations I thought it was a whole lot of bullshit.

Then I really started to look into it. It actually makes sense..

When you have a bad day, is that bad day not what consumes your mind? You just think about how bad your day is and if you think it hard enough, it will come true. In reality what was the "bad" day composed of? Did your significant other fight with you? Were you late to class? Did you get the wrong order at Starbucks?

These things, while are inconvenient, those little moments of time do not affect the rest of the hours in your day. We choose to complain and be negative because it is easy and relatable. You meet a new person? You will talk about mutual friends or enemies...

You'll complain about that person but in reality who is that affecting? YOU.

Reread that for me. YOU are the only person it affects.

We complain for the sheer fact of complaining but what would happen if instead of complaining, we were more grateful? Instead of thinking about the fight, think about how the fight needed to happen to make your relationship stronger, or think about how maybe this fight got you to realize you don't want to be with that person.

Everything happens for a reason and there are no exceptions.

Don't believe me? How about you ask one of the people who was stuck on the Jersey Turnpike when they should have been at 150 Greenwich Street on September 11, 2001. Not ringing a bell on the address? That was the address for the World Trade Center.

People who were complaining about being stuck in traffic, or running late, or any inconvenience that came up that made them late, had absolutely no idea that one of the absolute worst events in American History was about to happen.

Do you ever pass by a car crash and think, "wow that could have been me if I left 5 minutes earlier?"

Everything happens for a reason. While in the moment you may not see the reason, you will later in life. You cannot control what happens in life, it is impossible. But, you can control how you react and take that situation.

This. is. where. mindset. is. everything.

If you have a positive mindset in a bad situation you won't be as affected. If you have a negative mindset in a bad situation it can ruin your whole day.

Next time you're 5 minutes late to class try thinking, "at least I made it to class."

Try finding the light in your shitty situation and make your mindset a positive one. Trust me it may just change your life.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
