Often times there is a struggle between the mind and the heart.

You constantly ask yourself which you should listen to, and which one is right. I myself, however, have been a follower of both in my lifetime. It wasn't until I was truly lost that I finally found the answer, not only to myself but to all of society.

So what does the mind entail?

The mind is the more logical option. A steadfast and reliable choice that is by far your most loyal companion. It serves as the figure of reason and the royal advisor that strategizes a greater position for yourself Realize though, that even though your mind will never betray you, it will bring you despair in the long run. Even though you feel superior to the world around you, it will constantly leave you shaking your head in disappointment. Your mind isn't built to serve all your needs, and you aren't built to strictly follow your mind alone. The mind should serve not only educate and expand your knowledge but to preserve the happiness within your heart.

With a faulty relationship comes the heart. Despite the heart living up to a turncoat reputation, it serves needs you can't ignore. It is the embodiment of happiness and humanity. Without the heart, we are brutes, we are robots, we lose motivation to work for anything with reason. You must also realize though not to be a strict follower of the heart. You will find yourself forever lost and hurt, in the long run you will find yourself unable to recover. Going down this path is extremely dangerous and could result in major depression. The heart should quarter the passion that drives the ambition of your mind allowing it to feel refined for the next task it sets to complete.

In conclusion, the individual should keep your heart first to preserve the very definition of yourself however it is society as a whole that should rely much more on the mind. Society serves to progress the human race, a corporation that works toward success but it is up to you, the individual to never forget what you are. Without these qualities, life is sad and without purpose. The only way for knowledge to become bliss is to allow your mind and heart to work hand in hand for the greater good. Let's spite the ignorant and let's spite the machine men for they don't know the meaning of the human race. It is because of our rate of progression, our adaptation, and our reason that seats us on top of the food chain. I personally say to you, my dear reader, that is our duty to unite.

To unify not only the human race, but ourselves.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
