What do you think?

Think you heard enough?

Has life been overly sugar-coated? Does getting out of comfort zones scare you? Have we been protected for too long? Do we not aim for the stars anymore? Has marketing gone over board? Are we controlled? Do we blame others for our actions?
-"A 2014 YouGov Poll shows that 69% of Americans think those under 30 are lazy. Even a majority of young people, 55% say that their generation is lazier than past generations. Overall, 31% of people aged 18-29 think adults over 30 are harder workers than they are. Sixty percent of Americans think that millennials lack purpose. It’s hard to argue when millennials are still whining about student loans and Obamacare at age 26, which is probably why 57 percent of people under 30 agree that they lack purpose."

Suggestion:

Be the change you want to see. Quit social media outlets. Set examples. Be a real leader by becoming something, different. Get involved.

- "According to a 2013 Bank of America/USA Today survey over half admitted they’re “living from paycheck to paycheck,” according to CNBC.com, and “many are still living with or living off their parents.” More than one in three still draw cash or resources from mom and dad. But one in three are also saving for vacations, and they’re saving for vacations rather than homes. But good news: over 80 percent say they’ll be richer than their parents..."

Are we poorer than our parents generation in a sense that we are less likely to do just about anything? We are less likely to work long, hard hours at blue-collared jobs due to the cubical environmental college upbringing.

Suggestion:

Work hard, make your parents proud, do it for somebody else. Help your community, get involved with real issues.

- "Marriage Rates Are Plummeting. The median age at first marriage is now 27 for women and 29 for men- up from 20 for women and 23 for men in 1960. Today an unprecedented portion of millennials will remain unmarried through age 40, a recent Urban Institute report predicted."

Suggestion:

Go with the flow of life. Find zen. Find beauty. Find love. Don't be scared.

- "Sociologist Jean Twenge says mill. are uninterested in the society around them, less likely to help the environment, less likely to “say they wanted a job that was helpful to others or was worthwhile to society.”

Not only this, but we are less likely to save money, less likely to get out of debt and less likely to even compliment a stranger, donate goods and attend to religion.

Over all advice:

Don't be stereotyped into being the bad generation.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
