When talking about the election recently, it has seemed to make me mad and quite frankly, really disheartened. This is the first election of my life that I have actually dove deep into and while I enjoy learning and talking about politics, this election sparks something nasty inside of me. It's made me into a really apathetic person and lately, I've been unable to see anyone's opinion but mine and I feel like many others are feeling this way this election. I also think that it is somewhat of a joke. Many of the debates sound like an old married couple arguing and although the last debate showed the candidates talking about more important issues, it was too late. They should have been having these discussions in debates much earlier seeing that the last debate rarely sways the vote either way.

In my current world issues class we've grown tired of talking of the election and I wondered how others outside my class felt, considering they don't all have a class dedicated to talking about it. I asked some of my peers how they feel about the election and if they are annoyed with it or still interested and here's what I got:

"I'm over the election. Hillary Clinton will be president and Trump is just doing this for a publicity stunt." -Sam S., 16

"With this election I feel very anxious for the outcome. I am still interested because I love politics and elections, this will definitely be a big one for history because of who we are left with. I still miss Bernie Sanders. I think this will basically set in stone our future as young adults. I'm very annoyed with how immature the candidates have acted in the debate and I'm scared as a woman for Donald Trump to be elected." -Brianna Lloyd., 17

"I'm still interested. Donald Trump's idiocy and unpreparedness is always something worth seeing." -Calvin M., 17

“My feelings about the 2016 Presidential Election are unorganized and confusing, just as the past few months have been with Clinton and Trump running against each other. I am interested in politics, but recently, this election has gotten away from my attention. I feel as though the two candidates aren’t seeing the clear picture. Instead of stating what they are going to do for our country, they are biting each other’s heads off. At this point, I have become enraged with both of them and I want these next 4 years in politics to go by as quickly as possible, no matter who is elected.” -Camryn L., 17

This country seems to be going through a rough patch right now with everything that's been going on an it's frustrating to many of us because we want what's best for our future, but are not able to vote. We wish there were better options for president but everyone seems to be nervous no matter what the outcome.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

Blair Waldorf
Stop Hollywood

For those of you who have watched "Gossip Girl" before (and maybe more than just once), you know how important of a character Blair Waldorf is. Without Blair, the show doesn’t have any substance, scheme, or drama. Although the beginning of the show started off with Blair’s best friend Serena returning from boarding school, there just simply is no plot without Blair. With that being said, Blair’s presence in the show in much more complex than that. Her independent and go-getter ways have set an example for "Gossip Girl" fans since the show started and has not ended even years after the show ended. Blair never needed another person to define who she was and she certainly didn’t need a man to do that for her. When she envisioned a goal, she sought after it, and took it. This is why Blair’s demeanor encompasses strong women like her.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
